Dakar Brief Background
Dakar is the capital city of Senegal. It is popularly known for the annual rally raid organized by the Amaury Sport Organization.
The capital city is situated on the Cap-Vert Peninsula on the Atlantic coast. Dakar is a major administrative center and home to the nation’s National Assembly and the Presidential Palace
The settlers of the Cap-Vert Peninsula where Dakar sits came no later than the 15th century called the Lebou people. These group were aqua-cultural ethnic group who were related to another groups in the neighboring areas.

The Dakar Rally was formerly known as the “Paris-Dakar Rally” which is held annually. The race began in 1978. It is a car race open to amateurs and professionals, but around 80% of the participants are amateurs.
Dakar Rally is an off-road endurance race with terrains that are very tough for competitors to traverse. They use vehicles that are true off-road vehicles and not modified on-road ones.
