Riyadh Hotels & Tourism
Riyadh is Saudi Arabia’s largest city and its capital city. It is located at the heart of the Arabian Peninsula and is inhabited by almost 6 million people.
Riyadh started to develop in the 1940s when King Saud came to power with the main to modernize the city. The development plan is based on grid-like squares following that of a chess board that connects main roads and all corners of the city.
Structures and Architecture in Riyadh
It is thought that the old town of Riyadh was smaller and that it only has very few architectural remains. However, one can still observe today some of such remnants including the Masmark Fort and some parts of the wall, traditional mud-brick houses, which have been reconstructed recently.
