Brief Introduction to Vaduz
Vaduz is the capital and the seat of national parliament of Liechtenstein. Vaduz is a big town located along the Rhine. It has only about or over 5 thousand inhabitants.
It is thought that Vaduz (called as Farduzes in the 12th century) was founded in 1322 by the Counts of Werdenberg.
A castle was built by then but was destroyed during the Swabian War by the Swiss in the 15th century.
The purchase of the “Lordship” of Schellenberg and countship of Vaduz from the Hohemes has raised the dignity of Furstentum (principality) with the name “Liechtenstein” in honour of Anton Florian of Liechtenstein. This made Liechtenstein a sovereign member state of the Holy Roman Empire.
